Description

To be make in pink and cream, with a rose print if possible.

My toying with the idea of making custom lolita dresses and jumpers for sale seemed a great deal more plausible when I was stopped at a con and asked advice on sewing, and several reference photos were taken of the dress I was wearing. (This was the Steampunk Lolita) I thought a good first step would be to design and make a dress for my sister, Willow. It would most likely be on display at shows, since she cosplays, but it's still advertising. (Also, I have the terrible suspicion that I'd make it, she'd wear it, she'd look great, but before the end of the day decide people were laughing at her, feel wretched and stupid and take it off. Sorry, Willow, but that's the pattern when you look flamboyant and awesome.)
Willow's response upon seeing this design: "I'd look like a wedding cake." Damn, I was aiming for cupcake.
The note "No Peter Pan collar" was added after I showed the design to Willow and she stated a preference.

Many aspects of this dress were inspired by Angelic Pretty.
However, I changed the heart shaped patches to pockets, because dresses with pockets are the best thing ever. The sailor lolita has a pocket but the steampunk doesn't, I'm not sure if I will ever design a dress without pockets again.
Another inspiration was Suki Mana, a lolita who posts on the same boards as I do and does plus-sized lolita better than anyone else I've seen. The way she pulls it off makes you wonder why all large women don't dress like that.
